Back to work tomorrow. As in properly back to work – wearing the collar and such like. (Which is more of an indicator of mental attitude than anything else). So I’m feeling just a little glum – it’s been quite a long time since I’ve had 3 weeks off and I’ve got rather used to it! I do enjoy the work, though. Mostly. The positives vastly outweigh the negatives. It is me.

Some random thoughts:
– the vocation is to God not the church
– I have to keep faith with what I have received
– speak the positive don’t respond to the negative
– I’m pushing on an open door
– God wants more from me

– fall in love with the process

Can’t sleep

Do you ever get those nights when the brain won’t switch off? I’m having one of those (it’s now 1.43am). Done some constructive work at least – sorting out hymn choices for the next month or so – but I thought I’d share a gratuitous Ollie picture taken yesterday afternoon. He was very, very tempted to give chase! (look closely across the water)

So, Freddy Shepherd. Here comes a man who can finance some explosive growth for the Geordie nation’s favourite barcode army – and who won’t do it unless you sell him your shares – and you say ‘get lost!’ Hmmm. I know you don’t care about popularity but you are supposed to have NUFC’s interests at heart…

I have to say, I think this is all very healthy for the long term health of the Premiership (ignoring Peak Oil led depressions, of course). Many more clubs shaping up to be serious contenders – the league as a whole will get much stronger and attract the best world wide talent – obviously room for lots of positive feedback.

As I’ve said elsewhere, if I were Arsenal I’d be a bit worried.

Last week we had the exceptional high tide which caused a number of the shrubs at the high water mark to be unusually inundated – meaning that much seaweed has been left behind on their branches. I think this is a good metaphor for psychological baggage, when we can’t let something go that has no on-going place in our lives.

“Hey, you! You need to get that seaweed out of your branches!”

And one nice piccie of Ollie.

Back at my desk…

…but not yet fully back at work. That cold/cough/flu bug thing which I have been fending off all last week descended with a vengeance on Friday morning, and I have spent much of the weekend either asleep or curled up on the sofa under a duvet watching series three of ’24’ (I’ve got about six episodes left!) I suspect I shouldn’t have spent so long in the rain on Friday taking Ollie for the walk. Walking him is one of the things that I have really missed over the last few days – surprising how quickly it has become part of my routine. Poor him – he keeps on coming up to me wagging his tail expecting me to play, and I just don’t have the energy. Still. Should get the collar back on tomorrow – both dog collars, that is.

Meanwhile, here’s a piccie I took earlier, in lieu of TBTM:
