If it is true that losing your sense of humour is the earliest sign of burn-out, then I am greatly encouraged by how much I am laughing out loud this morning.<\/p>\n<p>First this (from my regular correspondent \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p><span>A gynaecologist had become so fed up with malpractice insurance and NHS paperwork he was burned out.<\/p>\n<p>Hoping to try another career where skilful hands would be beneficial, he decided to become a mechanic.<\/p>\n<p>He went to the local technical college, signed up for classes, attended diligently, and learned all he could.<\/p>\n<p>When the time for the practical exam approached, the gynaecologist prepared carefully for weeks and completed the exam with tremendous skill.<\/p>\n<p>When the results came back, he was surprised to find that he had obtained a score of 150%. <\/p>\n<p>Fearing an error,  he called the instructor, saying, &#8220;I don&#8217;t want to appear ungrateful for such an outstanding result, but I wonder  if there is an error in the grade.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The instructor said, &#8220;During the exam, you took the engine apart perfectly, which was worth 50% of the total mark.<\/p>\n<p>You put the engine back together again perfectly, which is also worth 50% of the mark. This equalled an A.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>After a pause, the instructor added, &#8220;I gave you an extra 50% because you did it all through the exhaust pipe, which I&#8217;ve never seen done in my entire career.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Then <a href=\"http:\/\/revjph.blogspot.com\/2009\/05\/why-didnt-somebody-tell-them_31.html\">this<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>And: <a href=\"http:\/\/io9.com\/5273694\/captain-kirks-universal-translator-a-whoopie-cushion\">I dare you to do better.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>And finally, <a href=\"http:\/\/thewoundedbird.blogspot.com\/2009\/05\/cutest-ass.html\">the cutest ass you have ever seen<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Onwards and up em!<br \/><span><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&#8230; is the best medicine.
