{"id":2670,"date":"2007-06-14T09:04:00","date_gmt":"2007-06-14T09:04:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/elizaphanian.com\/?p=2670"},"modified":"2007-06-14T09:04:00","modified_gmt":"2007-06-14T09:04:00","slug":"resource-constraints-will-limit-global-warming","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/elizaphanian.com\/?p=2670","title":{"rendered":"Resource constraints will limit global warming"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>At last some thorough analysis on how Peak Oil links in with global warming &#8211; go <a href=\"http:\/\/rutledge.caltech.edu\/\">here <\/a>for the entry-site (HT Energy Bulletin).<\/p>\n<p>Key argument:<br \/>&#8211; the IPCC do not take resource constraints into account in their climate models; <br \/>&#8211; all 40 IPCC scenarios assume that more hydrocarbons will be used than a resource analysis suggest is physically possible;<br \/>&#8211; a &#8216;producer-limited&#8217; analysis suggests that CO2 will peak at 460ppm in 2070;<br \/>&#8211; the temperature rise is approximately 0.8C by 2100;<br \/>&#8211; a political &#8216;Super-Kyoto&#8217; agreement would reduce that figure by 0.04C;<br \/>&#8211; it&#8217;s more important to reduce ultimate (total) hydro-carbon use than to slow it down.<\/p>\n<p>Absolutely fascinating. Lots of implications to ponder.
