This is something that several people who know me well quiz me about on a regular basis. For now, I can&#8217;t see that I&#8217;m in the wrong place (<a href=\"http:\/\/elizaphanian.blogspot.com\/2005\/07\/few-private-thoughts-about-my-book.html\">this post<\/a> explains why I don&#8217;t want to be an &#8220;academic&#8221;, and still holds true; <a href=\"http:\/\/elizaphanian.blogspot.com\/2006\/10\/wittgenstein-plato-and-pickstock-sense.html\">this post <\/a>is more specific about why I abandoned the PhD at Cambridge). Yet I do get tempted, eg when I have <a href=\"http:\/\/elizaphanian.blogspot.com\/2007\/03\/peak-oil-and-slavery.html\">a very enjoyable evening at one of the colleges<\/a>, or I read <a href=\"http:\/\/mpjensen.blogspot.com\/2007\/03\/twelve-steps-for-doctoral-students.html\">this<\/a>, or when I look at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lamp.ac.uk\/trs\/Postgraduate\/Degrees\/DMin.htm\">this course<\/a> in particular&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>I think it&#8217;ll all settle down before long.
