Quite brilliant, and very interesting, well worth a re-watch – but not sure if there is a religious sub-text or not (as opposed to simply a meditation on being human). Excellent ‘riffs’ on 2001 et al. 5/5
I was a little disappointed with this. I thought there were simply too many glaring plot holes for me to keep paying attention once the twist had been revealed.

Interesting though; I have kept missing it – will look out for it soon.

Byron – I had been ‘spoiled’ with regard to the twist, so I wasn’t really looking at that. Perhaps my reaction simply shows my sf geekiness 🙂

I consider myself something of a SF geek, appreciated the 2001 references and saw the twist coming. It wasn’t that, it was simply that there were a few too many plot holes. And tech holes: for instance, why would the computer have a single interface that runs around after the humans and can only “see” one thing at a time? Details like that bug me. Don’t get me wrong, I loved the first twenty or thirty minutes, and would probably still give it a 3.5/5 overall, but the problems began to pile up and by the end I felt somewhat disappointed that a great opening hadn’t had the follow-through it deserved. I felt somewhat similar about District 9.

I’m with Byron. The ‘twist’ came too early and the rest of the movie dragged.
