Of course, ten (20?) years ago, you could have used the JB initials for somebody else. I’ve gotta get season four…

Niall Ferguson interview
Can be found here.
I find Ferguson very interesting – one reason why I read the Sunday Telegraph (the only newspaper we read, disregarding the Economist).
The one thing that he is not taking account of is Peak Oil, which will change the demographics drastically.

Wim Wenders interview
Can be found here.
“Wenders’ spiritual investigations lead him to observe and consider some severely misguided characters. So yes, there is a lot of “trash” to be seen along the way. But in Matthew 6:22-23, Christ says, “The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are good, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eyes are bad, your whole body will be full of darkness.” This verse, quoted prominently in Faraway, So Close, indicates that those who go seeking offense will find it, but those who seek meaning and beauty will find it.”
That resonated with me a lot (see my cartoons post).
Never been kissed

This was recommended to us. It was fine – empty, formulaic, but fine. Probably a text-book example of how to structure a screenplay though. One particularly fine joke about 3/4 of the way in, involving Mary and Joseph.
But the real reason that we watched it is that beloved thinks that Michael Vartan is a hotty 🙂
What Jesus was all about
“When Jesus wanted to tell his disciples what his death was all about, he didn’t give them a theory — he gave them a meal.”
Tom Wright (see the material here).
Oriana Fallaci
Is someone who needs to be read and considered. Her ‘The Rage and the Pride’ I found very interesting. Good interview with her here.
“In 1974 [Algerian President] Houari Boumedienne, the man who ousted Ben Bella three years after Algerian independence, spoke before the General Assembly of the United Nations. And without circumlocutions he said: ‘One day millions of men will leave the southern hemisphere of this planet to burst into the northern one. But not as friends. Because they will burst in to conquer, and they will conquer by populating it with their children. Victory will come to us from the wombs of our women.’”
