Flowers

In lieu of TBTM today, some holiday snaps. First some flowers.

Including my eldest flower:
…and some red leaves.
I’m really enjoying the camera now, though I hope to carry on improving what I can achieve with it.

Back

For the first time in a while I didn’t take my laptop, so managed to read even more than usual, which was excellent. Also slept a lot, ate a lot, drank a lot, thought a lot. Great holiday; glad to be back.

Oh yes, I also took lots of photos…. I’ll try and catch up on the comments as well soon, especially the penal substitution ones.

And the darkness comprehendeth it not

Someone said to me the other day (possibly quoting Washington Irving?) that you need a small child to teach you the meaning of Christmas.

This is true.

You also need one (or, better, two) to distract a father from his pessimistic preoccupations.

I wish you all a blessed feast of the Incarnation of our Saviour.

(Time to wrap some presents)

Generosity (2)

The family were taken – a couple of weeks ago – to Le Touquet by a friend. The first time on Le Shuttle for all of us; first trip abroad for the children; all very exciting; and all very much appreciated. Thank you my friend.

When did you say the lights were going out Daddy?

Gratuitous Mersea pictures

V. satisfying Learning Church this morning – about 50 people(!), doubtless attracted by the subject (Christian Mysticism – an introduction) – if we have that many next week I’ll be pleasantly surprised, I have the sense that it was a little too ‘deep’ for many people to digest…

But in the middle of a glorious day – before the final wedding I’m taking this year – I took the boys onto the beach, and thought I’d let you see what Mersea is like in (truly) mid-October!!! when the tide is out.

NB those marks in the background that look like they might be dirt on the camera lens? They’re actually kite surfers….
